Neurorestoration
Exam
Cerebral Health's Neurorestoration Exam is a comprehensive neurological assessment that measures what other exams miss — giving us the objective data we need to build a treatment plan specific to your brain. We offer a state of the art suite of diagnostics for individuals with various neurological symptoms and conditions in San Jose, CA.
Who is this Exam For?
Different Systems Shared Neurological Pathways
We work with Concussion, Dysautonomia, Dizziness & Vertigo, Traumatic Brain Injury, Headaches & Migraines, Cognitive Decline, Balance Disorders, Neurodegeneration, and Movement Disorders. These conditions look different on the surface, but underneath, they all involve dysfunction in the same core neurological systems: your brainstem, vestibular system, autonomic nervous system, and the neural pathways that connect them. That's why one comprehensive exam can assess all of them.
Neurorestoration Examination
Uncovering and Identifying the root of your symptoms
Using Results
to determine your treatment
The Neurorestoration Exam uses six technology-driven assessments to capture objective, measurable data about how your brain and nervous system are actually performing, not just what they look like on a scan.
What we Measure and Why it Matters
Using infrared cameras, we precisely track how your eyes move as they follow targets, shift gaze, and respond to vestibular stimulation. Your eye movements are controlled by some of the most complex neural circuits in the brain — connecting your brainstem, cerebellum, frontal lobes, and vestibular system. How your eyes move is one of the clearest windows into how those circuits are performing.
We deliver small, controlled head movements and measure how accurately your eyes compensate to keep your vision stable. This tests your vestibulo-ocular reflex — one of the fastest reflexes in the human body — and tells us whether each of the six semicircular canals in your inner ears is working properly. Deficits in specific canals explain position-specific symptoms like dizziness on certain head turns.
We measure how your pupils respond to light — how fast they constrict, how quickly they recover, and whether both eyes respond symmetrically. Your pupil response is controlled by the balance between your sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems, making it one of the most sensitive and direct windows into autonomic function and brainstem health. This is particularly informative for concussion, dysautonomia, POTS, and brain fog.
Standing on a specialized force plate, we measure your body's sway under different conditions — eyes open, eyes closed, firm surface, unstable surface. This reveals which of your three balance inputs (vestibular, visual, proprioceptive) your brain is depending on and which it's struggling to use. The results directly drive rehabilitation strategy, and the numbers track measurable progress over your course of care.
A validated computerized assessment that measures the speed and accuracy of your brain's core cognitive functions. While our other tests evaluate the sensory and motor pathways of the nervous system, this one measures the cognitive networks that depend on those pathways. It gives us the full picture: not just how your brain's wiring is performing, but how that translates into thinking, focus, and mental clarity.
A thorough hands-on assessment of your cranial nerves, reflexes, coordination, sensory processing, and motor control. This is where clinical expertise ties all of the technology-driven data together — confirming which findings are clinically significant, identifying patterns the numbers alone don't capture, and building the complete picture that drives your personalized treatment plan.
Cerebral Health
What is the Process?
We run the exam at the start of care, at key milestones, and at the end of treatment. That means you never have to guess whether things are improving. Your biomarkers tell the story — objectively, in numbers — alongside how you’re feeling.
The result: a treatment plan built around your specific neurological deficits, and a clear record of how your brain responds over time.
